The Dumbbell Nebula

I had the chance last night to image another object near Cygnus, M27 – the Dumbbell nebula in the small constellation Vulpecula. This is a planetary nebula, showing what will happen to our Sun in the far future when it puffs off its outer layers. Imaged in Ha, OIII and combined with an earlier RGB image, I can’t wait for the nights to draw in, so I can gather much longer exposures on these objects.

  1. Good thought combining the narrow band with the RGB. It worked well to bring out the colours of the nebula and surroundings. Clear skies!
