I have been a member of this club for a number of years and last night I attended the first 2018 meeting of the Crewkerne and District Astronomical Society. The guest speaker ( also a CADAS member ) was Bob Mizon M.B.E., F.R.A.S. Uk co-ordinator of The Commision for Dark Skies who received his MBE for his services to the promotion of astronomy, he also runs a traveling planetarium and is regularly asked to assess the sky quality for prospective dark sky reserves. The talk he gave on ” Pole Stars of other Planets ” was very well recieved, later he also gave us a short talk on the constellation Canis Major, M41 the little beehive cluster and the many NGC objects to be found in the constellation. Club members including myself showed some of our astro images few though they were ( the great british weather playing a part in this ) at the end of the meeting, all in all a good night.
