An evening imaging M51 the Whirlpool Galaxy went well in so far as the equipment, guiding etc did what it was supposed to. The sky was clear except for every now and then a thin band of cloud barely visible to the eye passed right in front of, yes you guessed it the galaxy I was imaging. I wanted to get at least 30 exposures for stacking but had to get rid of 10 of the images, the thin layer of cloud increased the light pollution to an un-usable level, so the remaining 19 will be retained and added to the next time the sky is clear enough. It clouded over about 4.30am that was it for the night.
The picture above is OK but not great due to under sampling and not enough frames to stack
